Sean “Diddy” Combs has received another reduction in his projected prison release date, according to updated records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The 56-year-old music mogul is now scheduled to be released on April 15, 2028, marking the second adjustment to his sentence within the same month.
The latest revision trims an additional 10 days from his previous release date of April 25, 2028. Earlier, his timeline had already been brought forward from June to late April, indicating a gradual shortening of his overall time in custody.
Background of the Case
Combs has been serving his sentence at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey, a low-security facility, since late October. His imprisonment followed a high-profile legal case in which he was convicted on two prostitution-related charges.
When the sentence was initially handed down, the judge opted for a balanced approach. Prosecutors had sought a significantly longer term of 135 months, while the defence argued for a much shorter 14-month sentence. Ultimately, the court settled on a term of just over four years, considering both the severity of the offences and mitigating factors.
Sentence Details and Penalties
In addition to his prison term, Combs is required to complete five years of supervised release after leaving custody. He was also fined approximately £395,000, reflecting the seriousness of the charges. His sentence includes credit for time already served, which has contributed to the adjustments in his projected release date.

Personal Reflection and Public Reaction
Before beginning his sentence, Combs made a notable statement in court, expressing remorse for his actions. He described his behavior as “disgusting, shameful, and sick,” acknowledging that he had been struggling with drug use and had lost control during that period of his life.
His comments marked a stark contrast to his long-standing public image as a powerful and influential figure in the music industry.
Legacy and Ongoing Debate
Despite the legal controversy, some figures within the entertainment industry continue to recognize Combs’ professional legacy. Singer Usher recently commented that Combs’ contributions as a businessman and cultural figure are being overshadowed by his legal troubles. He highlighted the rapper’s role in advancing opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and turning creative ideas into successful ventures.
As public opinion remains divided, Combs’ revised release date in spring 2028 continues to be a key point of focus for both his legal team and observers.
