The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a live firing of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship missile, demonstrating enhanced precision-strike capability and operational readiness, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Successful Test and Key Features

The military’s media wing stated that the missile accurately engaged its target at an extended range and high speed, reflecting a strong level of preparedness.

According to ISPR, the missile is equipped with a modern guidance system and advanced manoeuvrability, enabling it to evade threats, adapt to dynamic combat environments, and strike targets with precision.

The test was witnessed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers, highlighting the collaboration between military and technical experts.

Strengthening Maritime Deterrence

Officials described the successful launch as a significant milestone, underlining Pakistan’s growing indigenous defence capabilities.

The statement emphasised that the development reflects a combination of technological advancement and operational expertise, reinforcing the country’s commitment to maintaining a credible sea-based deterrent and safeguarding maritime interests.

Leadership Commends Achievement

Top national leadership praised the achievement, including Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, who congratulated the scientists, engineers, and naval personnel involved in the project.

President Asif Ali Zardari and other senior military officials also acknowledged the successful test, calling it an important step in strengthening national defence.

Series of Recent Military Developments

This test follows earlier advancements by Pakistan’s armed forces. In January, the navy conducted a successful surface-to-air missile test during exercises in the North Arabian Sea.

Additionally, the Pakistan Air Force carried out a flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, capable of striking targets up to 600 kilometres away on land and at sea.

Evolving Nature of Naval Warfare

The latest development reflects the evolving demands of modern naval warfare, where precision, speed, and technological sophistication play a critical role.

Analysts note that such advancements are essential for maintaining strategic balance in the region, particularly as maritime security continues to gain importance in global defence dynamics.
