Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained why the price of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has not yet been revealed, even as anticipation builds for what is expected to be one of the biggest video game launches in recent years.

The highly anticipated title is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, according to the company’s latest earnings update. However, despite confirming the launch window, the company has deliberately withheld pricing details, leaving fans and industry analysts speculating.

Why the Price Has Not Been Announced

Speaking in an interview, Zelnick said that Take-Two does not reveal pricing during earnings or analyst calls, emphasizing that marketing and pricing decisions are handled separately.

“We never make marketing announcements in our analyst calls. Never ever ever,” he said, explaining that such details are reserved for later promotional stages closer to release.

This approach reflects the company’s broader strategy of controlling information flow to maximize marketing impact, particularly for major franchise releases like Grand Theft Auto.

Summer Marketing Campaign Expected

Zelnick also hinted that Rockstar Games is preparing a major marketing push, expected to begin during the summer months.

He noted that the campaign would not start immediately, suggesting that “the next few weeks” are still too early for the official rollout. However, once summer begins, Rockstar is expected to begin revealing more details, trailers, and promotional material for the game.

The summer period typically starts in late June, meaning fans may see the first major wave of marketing soon after.

Strong Financial Performance and Expectations

Take-Two’s latest financial results showed stronger-than-expected revenue growth. The company reported billions in net revenue and projected continued growth for the fiscal year ending March 2027.

Despite reporting an operating loss in the latest quarter, the company maintained an optimistic outlook, largely driven by expectations surrounding major upcoming releases, including GTA 6.

High Expectations for GTA 6

The Grand Theft Auto franchise remains one of the most commercially successful video game series in history, with previous installments generating billions in lifetime sales. As a result, industry analysts expect GTA 6 to break multiple records upon release.

However, with pricing still undisclosed, debate continues among fans and analysts over whether the game will follow standard AAA pricing models or introduce a higher premium price point given its scale and production cost.

For now, Rockstar Games continues to keep details tightly controlled, building anticipation ahead of its full marketing reveal expected in the coming months.
