LONDON: A Pakistani international student suffered facial fractures after allegedly being subjected to racist abuse and brutally assaulted near the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow early Sunday morning.
Musadiq Ismail, who moved to the UK from Pakistan in September 2025, said he was walking home at around 3:30am when a man began following him and shouting aggressively.
Ismail is currently studying for an MSc in International Financial Management at Middlesex University.
Student says attacker hurled racist abuse
According to Ismail, the man told him, “You don’t deserve to be here” and “Go back to your country” before repeatedly pushing him.
The student said he initially chose not to respond and continued walking. However, after being shoved several times, he pushed the man back in an attempt to protect himself.
Ismail said the suspect then punched and assaulted him, leaving his nose bleeding heavily and his clothes covered in blood.
Doctors confirm facial fractures
The student reported the incident to police several hours later and was advised to seek medical attention at a hospital.
He said doctors carried out a CT scan and an eyesight examination before confirming that he had suffered facial fractures.
Ismail returned to the police station the following day to provide further details about his injuries.

The case has been recorded under crime reference 0388647/26.
The attacker has not yet been identified, while the police investigation remains ongoing.
Pakistani student says he remains traumatised
Speaking to Geo News, Ismail said the incident had left him deeply shocked and fearful for his safety.
“I am in considerable pain, particularly in the areas where I was repeatedly struck. I never imagined that such a violent attack could happen to me in Great Britain,” he said.
He said the physical pain was particularly severe around the areas where he was repeatedly hit.
Appeal for immediate arrest
Ismail appealed to police to treat the case seriously, identify the alleged attacker and make an immediate arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault and identify the person responsible.
