Passport delivery counters across Pakistan will remain open on Saturdays for the next two months, allowing citizens to collect their ready passports outside regular working days.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) announced that the counters will operate from 8am to 4pm every Saturday under the new arrangement.
Passport collection available on Saturdays
Citizens whose passports are ready for collection will be able to receive their documents on Saturdays in addition to the department’s regular working days.
The initiative is aimed at making passport collection more convenient for applicants who may be unable to visit passport offices during the week.
The department also warned citizens that passports left uncollected for more than six months would be disposed of in accordance with government policy.
Saturday service to continue for two months
According to the new arrangement, passport delivery counters nationwide will remain operational every Saturday for a period of two months.
Applicants with ready passports can therefore use the additional Saturday hours to collect their documents without waiting for the next regular working day.

Doorstep passport delivery service
The latest move comes months after the DGIP launched a doorstep passport delivery service, allowing applicants to receive their passports at their registered addresses rather than visiting collection centres.
The service was introduced on the directions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of efforts to improve public convenience and streamline passport delivery.
Under the initiative, applicants can have their passports delivered directly to their registered addresses.

Cashless payments introduced at passport offices
Earlier, Naqvi had announced that cashless transactions would be introduced at passport offices across Pakistan.
The interior minister said the measure would eliminate the need for applicants to stand in long queues or wait for extended periods to make payments.
He described the initiative as another step towards making public services faster, more transparent and convenient for citizens.
The government has said further measures are also being pursued to improve the delivery of passport and other public services.
