PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser on Information and Public Relations Samar Haroon Bilour held a public day at Lahori Gate, where she met citizens and listened to their concerns about civic issues and municipal services.
Residents used the opportunity to raise problems affecting their daily lives and bring local issues to the attention of the government. Participants also congratulated Bilour on her appointment and presented her with bouquets of flowers.
The initiative highlighted the importance of direct communication between public representatives and citizens to identify community needs and improve the delivery of essential services.
Focus on Sanitation and Drainage
During the public day, attention was drawn to the need for better sanitation, an improved drainage system and effective measures to control environmental pollution in Peshawar.
Timely collection of waste from streets, markets and public spaces, along with regular cleaning of drains, was identified as essential to maintaining a cleaner urban environment.
Improving drainage infrastructure and ensuring the efficient disposal of rainwater are also important steps towards addressing problems caused by inadequate municipal services.

Preserving Peshawar’s Historic Identity
Peshawar, historically known as the City of Flowers, is recognised for its cultural heritage, historic landmarks and traditional architecture.
Preserving the city’s distinctive character requires coordinated planning, effective municipal management and the protection of public spaces.
Plantation, conservation of green areas and measures to reduce air pollution can also contribute to a healthier urban environment and improve residents’ quality of life.
Public Welfare Remains a Priority
The public day provided an opportunity for residents to communicate their concerns directly and seek government attention to issues affecting their neighbourhoods.
Under the provincial governor’s leadership, public welfare remains a stated priority, with coordinated efforts among relevant departments needed to address civic complaints and improve municipal services.
Effective follow-up on the concerns raised during such engagements will be important in translating public feedback into practical improvements across Peshawar.
