The renovation aims to modernise playing and training facilities, improve the stadium’s infrastructure and bring its playing surface in line with international standards.
According to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the provincial government and Sports Board Punjab approved the funding following a special request from the federation. The announcement was made on Friday.
New Astroturf and Improved Facilities
The project includes installing a new astroturf at the stadium and upgrading the adjoining practice pitch. The work will also cover repairs to the venue’s infrastructure and improvements to other facilities.
The PHF said the training infrastructure would be modernised to provide players with better facilities and support their preparation for domestic and international competitions.
The renovation is intended to strengthen hockey in Pakistan by improving the quality of facilities available to players. The federation expects the project to be completed by January 2027.
