In a harrowing revelation, the United Nations has reported that Israeli forces have killed 1,054 Palestinians in Gaza while they were attempting to receive humanitarian aid. These killings began on May 26, coinciding with the resumption of aid operations by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
According to UN human rights spokesperson Thameen Al-Khitan, 766 of the victims were killed near GHF aid distribution points, while 288 others were targeted around convoys operated by the UN and other humanitarian organizations.
The figures are based on ground reports from medical teams, human rights organizations, and other credible sources. The UN has called these killings “deeply alarming” and possible violations of international humanitarian law.
This revelation comes as Gaza continues to suffer under relentless Israeli assaults since October 7, 2023. In a recent escalation, 74 more Palestinians were killed, pushing the death toll beyond 58,000, plunging the region deeper into a severe humanitarian catastrophe. Over 2 million people are now struggling with food insecurity, lack of clean drinking water, insufficient medical care, and displacement.
GHF and other international aid agencies are working tirelessly to deliver food, medicine, and essential supplies to the besieged and starving population. However, persistent Israeli attacks have made these efforts highly dangerous and limited in scope.
Global human rights organizations are demanding independent and impartial investigations into these incidents. Activists and aid workers are urging the international community to take immediate action to protect civilian lives and uphold humanitarian law.
