A tech company has introduced an unusually heavy smartphone case, weighing approximately 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds), aimed at discouraging excessive phone use. The company says the concept is simple: if using a phone becomes physically taxing, people are likely to spend less time scrolling, checking notifications, or browsing social media.
This is about making users pause and think before automatically reaching for their phones, a company spokesperson explained. When your device becomes cumbersome, it naturally limits screen time.
Design and Functionality
The case is crafted from stainless steel and consists of two reinforced sections fastened together with screws, making it difficult to remove. The design is intended to be deliberately inconvenient, forcing users to think twice before checking notifications.
Currently, the case is compatible with iPhone models 13 through 17. The company has launched it through a crowdfunding campaign with a price tag of $209 (roughly PKR 58,000). Initial shipments are expected to begin in January 2026.
