Pakistani Activist Highlights Gaza’s Crisis
At the International Youth Congress in Morocco, Pakistani social activist Alina Azhar emerged as a prominent advocate for Palestinians in Gaza. She described the humanitarian crisis, the suffering of children, and the global indifference toward the conflict. Moreover, she urged young people worldwide to take action and raise their voices collectively.
Azhar, who hails from Lahore, emphasized that youth have the power to make meaningful change. The youth of today can make a difference when they unite, she said, highlighting the importance of global solidarity.
Pakistan’s Long-Standing Support for Palestine
During her address, Azhar reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring support for a free and independent Palestinian state. In addition, she explained that youth activists from around the world were coming together to strengthen solidarity with Gaza’s people.
The Congress was jointly organized by Rabat University, Youth Congress Morocco, and Voice for Rights International. It brought together young leaders from Pakistan, India, the Middle East, and Europe. Consequently, the event provided a truly global platform for dialogue and advocacy.
Alina Azhar: A Role Model for Social Service
Alina Azhar is recognized as one of Pakistan’s most influential young women in social activism. She has received numerous international awards, including the prestigious Lady Diana Award.
Despite growing up in a challenging environment marked by social unrest, Azhar turned personal tragedy into motivation. The loss of her father at age 16 inspired her to dedicate herself to humanitarian work.
At 18, she founded Asra Pakistan, an organization supporting elderly citizens, orphaned children, slum communities, transgender individuals, and other marginalized groups. Later, at 22, she launched Asra Turkey, which provides food, clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials to Syrian refugees in Istanbul.
Engaging with Global Leaders
During the Congress, Azhar participated in a special TRT World program. Furthermore, she met with several international leaders, including former Scottish First Minister Hamza Yusuf, Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Noy Yilmaz, and the Turkish President’s foreign policy and security advisor Aqif Çataklı.
They discussed the ongoing war in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis, and the responsibilities of the international community. Azhar stressed that the Palestinian issue is not only a political dispute but also a test of the world’s conscience. Therefore, she called on young people to act with courage and empathy.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Azhar urged young people to recognize their resilience and potential. Real change comes from courage, conviction, and humanity, not from holding an official position, she said.
