Apple TV has confirmed that The Savant, the political thriller starring and executive produced by Jessica Chastain, will finally be released in spring 2027, more than a year after the series was abruptly pulled from its original release schedule.
The eight-part series follows an undercover investigator who infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to prevent domestic extremist attacks before they occur.
The Savant was initially scheduled to premiere on September 26, 2025. However, Apple postponed its release just three days before the planned debut, following the September 10, 2025 assassination of Turning Point USA activist Charlie Kirk.
At the time, Apple offered little explanation for the decision, saying it had chosen to postpone the series after “careful consideration” and would release it at a later date.
Jessica Chastain disagreed with delay
Chastain publicly expressed disagreement with Apple’s decision the following day.
The Oscar-winning actress said the series focused on people working to prevent violence and argued that the subject matter remained particularly relevant.
While respecting Apple’s decision to pause the release, Chastain said she remained hopeful that the show would eventually reach audiences.
The series’ release plans were subsequently affected by other political developments in the United States.

Eight days after Apple postponed the premiere, then-FBI Director Kash Patel announced that he was dissolving the agency division that Chastain’s character works for in the fictional storyline.
Patel said at the time that the move was aimed at addressing what he described as political bias within federal law enforcement.
Series targets 2027 Emmy eligibility
According to Deadline, the decision to release The Savant in spring 2027 was specifically timed to make the series eligible for the 2027 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The show is based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan feature and features an ensemble cast alongside Chastain, including Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and James Badge Dale.
Matthew Heineman directed the series.
After its long delay, The Savant is now scheduled to arrive on Apple TV in spring 2027, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
