Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir has warned that any future aggression against Pakistan would face “serious, far-reaching, and painful consequences” as the country commemorated the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
The remarks were made during a special ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, attended by senior military leadership including Air Chief Marshal Sidhu and Naval Chief Admiral Ashraf.
Ceremony Held to Mark One Year Since May Conflict
The event commemorated the May 2025 conflict between Pakistan and India, which lasted several days before ending with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States.
During the ceremony, senior military officials laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ monument and contingents from Pakistan’s armed forces presented ceremonial salutes.
Addressing the gathering, Field Marshal Munir described the conflict as a defining moment that demonstrated Pakistan’s unity, military preparedness, and national resolve.
“Pakistan’s Defence Is Impregnable”
CDF Munir stated that Pakistan’s armed forces successfully defended the country during the confrontation and claimed the enemy had suffered heavy losses during the conflict.
He said:
- Pakistan’s defence capability has become “fully impregnable” against external aggression
- Future hostile actions would carry severe consequences
- The armed forces remain fully prepared for modern warfare challenges
He also praised the role of the Pakistan Air Force, saying the “Shaheens” demonstrated exceptional operational capability during the conflict.

Reference to Modern Warfare and Defence Reforms
The army chief emphasized that future wars would increasingly involve:
- Cyber warfare
- Artificial intelligence
- Drone technology
- Long-range precision weapons
- Multi-domain military operations
He said Pakistan has established a Defence Forces Headquarters to align military strategy with evolving technological and operational requirements.
Kashmir, Terrorism, and Regional Security
Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position on Kashmir, Munir said that “no story of Pakistan is complete without Kashmir” and pledged continued diplomatic and moral support for Kashmiris.
He also accused India of supporting destabilization efforts through terrorism and urged Afghanistan to eliminate militant safe havens operating from its territory.
The field marshal reiterated that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign would continue until militancy is fully eliminated.
Diplomatic Role and International Engagement
Munir also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement on the international stage, including efforts related to facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.
He further referenced a reported strategic defence understanding with Saudi Arabia, describing it as a major step toward strengthening regional security cooperation.
According to him, Pakistan’s international standing and diplomatic relationships have improved over the past year.
National Unity Highlighted
Throughout his address, the army chief repeatedly stressed national unity and public support during the conflict. He paid tribute to civilians and security personnel who lost their lives, calling their sacrifices a “sacred trust.”
He stated that the conflict had demonstrated not only military strength but also the resilience of Pakistani society as a whole.
The anniversary ceremony at GHQ served both as a remembrance event and a strategic message regarding Pakistan’s defence posture. Through strong statements on military preparedness, regional security, and modern warfare, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir signaled that Pakistan intends to maintain a firm stance against future threats while continuing to strengthen its defence and diplomatic capabilities.
