ISLAMABAD: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir has concluded a three-day official visit to Iran, where he stressed the importance of dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful resolution of disputes amid ongoing regional tensions involving the United States.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit included a series of high-level meetings with Iran’s civil and military leadership, focusing on regional security and diplomatic engagement.
High-Level Meetings in Tehran
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and senior military officials.
He was accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a Pakistani delegation, reflecting the broader civil-military coordination in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach.
Focus on Regional Stability
Discussions during the meetings centred on the evolving security situation in the Middle East, ongoing diplomatic efforts, and the need for sustained engagement to promote long-term stability.
The army chief reiterated the importance of dialogue and peaceful settlement of disputes, urging all sides to avoid escalation and prioritise diplomacy.

The ISPR stated that the visit reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to facilitating a negotiated resolution to regional tensions, particularly between Iran and the United States.
Pakistan has recently played a mediating role in encouraging ceasefire arrangements and hosting dialogue between the two sides, aiming to reduce hostilities and open channels for communication.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Field Marshal Munir also conveyed greetings and best wishes from Pakistan’s leadership to Iranian officials, reaffirming Islamabad’s desire to strengthen long-standing bilateral relations with Tehran.
He expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Iranian government and emphasised shared interests in regional peace and stability.
