England captain Harry Kane has signed a two-year contract extension with Bayern Munich, keeping him at the German champions until 2029. The striker said he feels at home at the club after scoring 156 goals in 161 appearances since joining from Tottenham in 2023.

Kane Commits to Bayern

Bayern Munich announced the contract extension on Thursday, confirming that the 33-year-old forward will remain part of the club’s plans for the coming seasons.

Kane said he was delighted to continue his journey in Munich, praising the club, its supporters, the city and head coach Vincent Kompany.

“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager,” Kane said in a statement.

He added that his family was also happy in Germany and that he was keen to remain at the club.

“It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future,” he said.

Remarkable Scoring Record

Since arriving from Tottenham in 2023, Kane has established himself as one of Bayern’s most influential players.

He has scored 156 goals in 161 appearances across all competitions, becoming a central figure in the club’s attacking setup.

His achievements include two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup. However, the Champions League remains an elusive target, with Bayern reaching the semi-finals twice during his three campaigns at the club.

Kane previously spent more than a decade at Tottenham, the club he supported as a boy, but left without winning a major team trophy.

Ballon d’Or Recognition

Kane recently achieved one of football’s highest individual honours after being named men’s player of the year at last month’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.

He became the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to receive the award and the first Bayern Munich player since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.

Kane finished ahead of France captain Kylian Mbappe, who placed second in the voting.

His record-breaking performances have also continued in the Bundesliga. In September, he became the fastest player in German football history to score 100 Bundesliga goals, reaching the milestone in just 98 appearances.

He broke the previous record set by Dieter Mueller in 1977 by 31 matches.

Bayern Delighted With Deal

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund welcomed the extension, describing Kane as an important player both on and off the pitch.

Freund said the club was “absolutely delighted” to secure the striker’s future and praised his leadership, teamwork and all-round ability.

“With Harry Kane we have the Ballon d’Or winner on the pitch, a team player, a leader, the best all-round striker in the world,” he said.

He added that Bayern benefited from Kane’s qualities as a footballer and as a person every day.

According to German media reports, negotiations over the new agreement had been taking place since August, with the length of the contract emerging as the main point of discussion.

Premier League Return Unlikely

Kane’s extension also reduces speculation about a possible return to English football.

Although a move back to the Premier League had previously been considered a possibility, the striker has repeatedly spoken about how comfortably his family has settled in Munich.

In an August interview with FourFourTwo magazine, Kane said his desire to return to England had weakened since moving to Germany.

He explained that playing outside England had introduced him to a different football environment and increased his appreciation of European football.

Kane said his priority was to remain in the best possible environment for his career, while leaving open the possibility of a future move by saying he would never rule anything out.

Kane’s Historic Season

Kane enjoyed an outstanding scoring campaign last season, finding the net 61 times for Bayern and adding another 12 goals for England.

His combined tally of 73 goals was the second-highest recorded by a player in a calendar-season-style campaign in the 21st century, behind Lionel Messi’s 82 goals in 2011-12.

During his Ballon d’Or acceptance speech, Kane also credited his Bayern teammates for helping him achieve the honour, praising their competition and support.

Bayern won the Bundesliga and German Cup double last season. They also came close to reaching the Champions League final but were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain after a dramatic 6-5 aggregate defeat in the semi-finals.

Bayern Maintain Strong Form

Bayern have continued their impressive performances this season and remain unbeaten among clubs competing in Europe’s top five leagues.

They are at the top of the Bundesliga standings, level with Borussia Dortmund on points but ahead on goal difference.

In the Champions League, Bayern were placed 13th in the league-phase table after four of their eight matches.

With Kane now committed to the club until 2029, Bayern will hope his goalscoring consistency and leadership can help them compete for further domestic and European honours.
