Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) has reportedly detained nearly 240 individuals during coordinated security operations in the western provinces of Kurdistan and Kermanshah, according to reports cited by Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera.

The operations are part of ongoing security measures in regions that have historically seen periodic unrest and activity by armed groups.

Arrests and Clashes in Kurdistan Province

In the Kurdistan Province, security forces reportedly detained 11 individuals during targeted raids. Authorities also stated that one member of a Kurdish armed group was killed during the operations.

Officials said weapons and ammunition were seized during the actions. In separate operations within the same province, nearly 70 additional suspects were detained, although specific charges were not immediately disclosed.

Mass Detentions in Kermanshah

In the neighboring Kermanshah Province, authorities reported the arrest of approximately 155 individuals. According to official statements, those detained are suspected of having links to what Iran describes as “counter-revolutionary groups.”

Among those arrested, four individuals were allegedly accused of connections with Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, though no independent verification of these claims has been provided.

Additional Arrests in Tehran

Separately, police in Tehran announced the arrest of an individual accused of collecting and transmitting information about missile strike locations to what authorities described as hostile foreign networks.

Officials did not provide further details about the suspect or the alleged network involved.

Broader Security Context

Iranian authorities regularly conduct security operations in border provinces such as Kurdistan and Kermanshah, areas that have seen tensions involving Kurdish armed groups and state security forces over the years.

These latest detentions come amid heightened regional instability and increased security concerns across the country, particularly in sensitive border regions.

While Iranian officials frame the operations as part of counter-terrorism and national security efforts, such mass detentions often draw attention from human rights observers and international media due to concerns about due process and regional tensions.

As of now, no independent confirmation of the identities or specific charges against all those detained has been made publicly available.
