KARACHI: Karachi is likely to receive light rain in different parts of the city on Tuesday as hot and humid weather continues to prevail, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The weather department forecast that the maximum temperature in the port city is expected to remain between 35°C and 37°C during the day.

The minimum temperature recorded in Karachi was 28°C, while the humidity level reached 81%, making conditions feel particularly warm and humid.

Winds were blowing from the southwest at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour, the PMD said, adding that light rain could occur in various areas of the metropolis.

Monsoon system moving westward

The forecast comes as a monsoon system over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas continues to move westward.

According to the PMD, the weather system is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of Sindh until September 16.

PDMA issues alert as Punjab braces for final monsoon spell

Several districts across the province are likely to be affected by the weather spell, with southeastern parts of Sindh expected to see particular activity. Rainfall is likely to occur intermittently, with breaks between spells.

The weather conditions could provide some temporary relief from the prevailing heat and humidity in Karachi, although temperatures are expected to remain relatively high.

PDMA issues precautionary advisory

Meanwhile, the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed relevant authorities to take precautionary measures and remain vigilant during the expected weather spell.

Authorities have been advised to closely monitor the situation and take necessary steps to deal with any weather-related risks as the monsoon system continues to influence parts of the province.

Residents are also advised to remain alert to weather updates, particularly in areas that could experience rainfall or thunderstorms during the period.
