Residents of Karachi will soon be able to access a wide range of federal Interior Ministry services at a single location, with plans underway to establish Pakistan’s largest service centre in the port city.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the establishment of the Grand Khidmat Markaz during a visit to the Ministry of Interior office on II Chundrigar Road on Tuesday.
The proposed facility will bring service counters for institutions operating under the Interior Ministry together at one location, allowing citizens to obtain passports, identity cards, arms licences, no-objection certificates (NOCs) and other services without having to visit multiple offices.
Master plan ordered for Grand Khidmat Markaz
During his visit, Naqvi reviewed the arrangements for establishing the new centre and directed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive master plan.
The minister instructed officials to take all necessary requirements into account while designing the facility and directed them to submit the plan within 10 days.
He also ordered the authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the establishment of the Grand Khidmat Markaz.
The initiative is aimed at bringing multiple federal services under one roof and making it easier for citizens to complete official procedures at a single location.

New rescue vehicles arrive for Islamabad
Meanwhile, Naqvi inspected a fleet of new rescue and firefighting vehicles procured from China for the Islamabad Rescue and Fire Brigade.
The interior minister welcomed the arrival of the vehicles and said their addition would represent the biggest expansion of Islamabad’s rescue service since 2009.
He also thanked the Chinese government for facilitating the early delivery of the vehicles.
The new fleet will operate around the clock from six rescue stations across Islamabad.

Fleet includes aerial fire trucks and towers
The newly procured vehicles are equipped with modern firefighting and rescue technology and can carry out operations at heights of up to 256 feet.
The fleet includes four aerial fire trucks, six fire towers and five fire tanks, providing the capital’s emergency services with additional capacity for firefighting and rescue operations.
The vehicles are scheduled to be transported from Karachi to Islamabad within five days.
The expansion is expected to strengthen the Islamabad Rescue and Fire Brigade’s ability to respond to emergencies, particularly incidents involving high-rise buildings and other difficult-to-access locations.
