Kuwait Launches Smart e-Visa System with Four New Visa Categories

Digital Transformation Aims to Boost Tourism, Trade, and Diplomatic Engagement

In a major step toward modernizing its immigration system, Kuwait has introduced a new electronic visa (e-visa) platform, enabling the issuance of four initial visa categories online. This initiative is part of the country’s broader “Smart Governance” policy, designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and security across government services through digitization.

According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, the digital visa system will streamline the visa application process and support Kuwait’s goal of becoming a dynamic hub for tourism, international business, and diplomatic activities.

The following four visa types are now available under the new e-visa system:

  1. Tourist Visa – Issued for up to 90 days, this visa allows foreign visitors to explore Kuwait’s attractions, culture, and heritage.

  2. Family Visit Visa – Valid for 30 days, this visa is designed for immediate family members of expatriates residing in Kuwait, enabling them to visit their loved ones.

  3. Business Visa – Also valid for 30 days, this visa caters to representatives of international companies attending business meetings, trade exhibitions, or corporate events in Kuwait.

  4. Official Government Visa – Issued to government delegations and high-ranking officials visiting Kuwait on official state invitations.

The Ministry further announced that more visa categories will be added in subsequent phases of the e-visa rollout, ensuring that the entire visa process becomes automated, secure, and user-friendly.

Officials emphasized that the digital transition will not only save applicants time and effort but also significantly improve the efficiency and safety of the country’s entry process.

This forward-looking move aligns with Kuwait’s vision of embracing digital transformation and reinforcing its position as a progressive, globally connected nation.
