ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity tariffs for consumers across Pakistan by Rs2.58 per unit through monthly fuel cost and quarterly adjustments.
The latest increase is expected to place a combined additional burden of around Rs45.67 billion on electricity consumers.
NEPRA approves Rs2.06 per unit fuel adjustment
According to a notification issued by NEPRA on Friday, electricity prices have been increased by Rs2.06 per unit under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
The adjustment is based on fuel costs for July 2026 and will add approximately Rs33 billion to consumers’ electricity bills.
The July FCA will be reflected in electricity bills issued in September 2026.
Quarterly adjustment adds Rs12.67 billion burden
Separately, NEPRA forwarded its decision on the quarterly tariff adjustment for April to June 2026 to the federal government.
Under the decision, consumers will face an additional Re0.52 per unit charge from September through November 2026.

The quarterly adjustment will also apply to consumers of K-Electric, according to NEPRA.
The regulator said the quarterly increase would place an additional financial burden of Rs12.67 billion on consumers.
Which consumers will be affected?
The notification stated that the July 2026 FCA would apply to consumers of XWDISCOs, except lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and prepaid electricity consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs.
XWDISCOs and K-Electric will reflect the July FCA in bills issued during September 2026.
Previous electricity tariff increase
The latest increase comes after NEPRA raised electricity tariffs by Rs0.75 per unit across the country last month under the monthly fuel cost adjustment.
That increase was attributed to variations in fuel charges recorded during June 2026.
