Lahore: Renowned television host and actress Nida Yasir recently shared an unfortunate yet eye-opening incident involving a theft at her home. She revealed that her trust was deeply shaken when her foreign domestic helper was caught stealing from her.
According to Nida, after the birth of her son, she hired a Filipina nanny whom she trusted completely. The nanny appeared highly professional and even held foreign citizenship, which gave Nida further confidence in her. However, over time, Nida began noticing that valuable items were going missing from her home, though she never suspected the nanny.
The truth came to light unexpectedly when, during a shopping trip, Nida handed her purse to the nanny — which contained 300 euros. Later, when the money was missing, suspicion grew, prompting her to investigate.
The very next day, the nanny requested a day off. Nida approved it but chose to accompany her to her residence. What she discovered there was shocking — three large bags filled with Nida’s belongings, including expensive items, branded clothing, costly mobile phones, and the missing euros.
Since the nanny had been working with the family for a long time and all the stolen items were recovered, Nida chose not to take legal action. Instead, she filed a full report with the agency through which the nanny was hired.
Nida Yasir described the incident as deeply upsetting and advised others to exercise great caution when hiring and supervising domestic staff. She emphasized that while trust is important, it should never be blind.
