President Asif Ali Zardari is set to depart today on a four-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic from July 6 to July 9, leading a high-level delegation at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The visit marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations, as it will be the first visit by a Pakistani president to Kyrgyzstan in 21 years. Officials say the trip reflects the growing momentum in diplomatic engagement between the two countries and is expected to open new avenues for cooperation in multiple sectors.
High-Level Talks on Bilateral Relations
During the visit, President Zardari will hold a one-on-one meeting with President Zhaparov, followed by delegation-level talks involving senior officials from both sides.
The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations while also exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest. The discussions will focus on strengthening political ties and expanding economic cooperation in line with the shared interests of both countries.
The visit follows President Zhaparov’s official trip to Pakistan in December 2025, which helped reinforce high-level dialogue and laid the groundwork for enhanced bilateral engagement.
Focus on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation
According to the Foreign Office, the two sides are expected to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration across a wide range of sectors.
Key areas of discussion include trade and investment, energy, mining, agriculture, textiles, the halal industry, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, the digital economy, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Officials believe closer cooperation in these sectors could boost economic ties and promote greater connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asia.
Meeting with Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker
In addition to his meetings with President Zhaparov, President Zardari is also scheduled to receive the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament during a courtesy call.
The engagement is expected to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation and reinforce diplomatic relations between the two countries.
A Longstanding Partnership
Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic have traditionally enjoyed friendly relations based on shared historical, cultural and religious ties. Both countries have consistently expressed support for expanding cooperation in areas such as regional connectivity, trade, education and economic development.
The Foreign Office said the visit reflects the mutual commitment of both governments to deepen bilateral relations and work together for peace, prosperity and sustainable development across Central and South Asia.
With high-level meetings and discussions scheduled over the four-day visit, officials expect the trip to provide fresh momentum to Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations and lay the foundation for broader cooperation in the years ahead.
