Sri Lanka have announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship, with Kusal Mendis appointed captain and Pathum Nissanka included subject to fitness.
The series will begin in Rawalpindi on November 9, with the second Test scheduled to take place in Lahore from November 17 to 21.
Nissanka returns to the squad after missing Sri Lanka’s tour of India in August while recovering from a wrist injury. His fitness will be assessed ahead of the opening match to determine whether he is ready to play.
Madushanka Recalled as New Players Earn Call-Ups
Fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka has earned a recall to Sri Lanka’s Test squad, while Eshan Malinga and Anjala Bandara have also received call-ups.
The selectors have opted for a 15-member group as Sri Lanka prepare for a challenging series against Pakistan away from home.
Opening batter Lahiru Udara has missed out despite scoring an impressive 188 runs against the West Indies in June. Wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella has also been left out of the squad.
The inclusion of Nissanka, meanwhile, remains conditional on his recovery, making his fitness an important factor in Sri Lanka’s preparations for the opening Test.
