ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday held talks with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Islamabad, with both sides reviewing bilateral relations and discussing the evolving situation in the Middle East.
The meeting took place at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the Kuwaiti foreign minister, who arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday, called on the deputy prime minister, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
Pakistan, Kuwait review bilateral relations
According to the Foreign Office, the two foreign ministers reviewed the full spectrum of Pakistan-Kuwait bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly partnership between the two countries.
The FO said both sides emphasized enhancing cooperation based on mutual trust, shared history and longstanding diplomatic ties.
Middle East developments discussed
The meeting also included detailed discussions on regional and international developments, with particular attention given to the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East.
According to the Foreign Office, both leaders exchanged views on key regional issues and emphasized continued consultation on matters of mutual interest.

Delegation-level talks to follow
The Foreign Office said the bilateral meeting would be followed by delegation-level talks, where officials from both countries will review the entire scope of Pakistan-Kuwait relations and explore ways to expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
The discussions are also expected to include regional and international developments affecting both countries.
Visit reflects close Pakistan-Kuwait ties
Earlier, the FO spokesperson said the Kuwaiti foreign minister’s visit reflects the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Kuwait, which are built on shared history, mutual trust and close cooperation.
The visit comes at a time of increased diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
Defence cooperation reports
The visit also follows recent international media reports suggesting that Pakistan and Kuwait have been discussing an expanded defence partnership alongside broader cooperation in the energy and investment sectors.
According to those reports, Kuwait is interested in enhancing defence cooperation with Pakistan beyond the existing agreement, which has covered military training and joint exercises since 2023.
No official announcement regarding any new defence agreement has been made by either government.
