Iran launched fresh attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain on Sunday, with Kuwaiti authorities reporting that a power and water desalination plant caught fire after being struck.
According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the attack damaged several facilities at the plant and affected a large number of electricity generation units, prompting authorities to activate an emergency response plan.
Firefighters were deployed to control the blaze, while officials urged residents to reduce electricity consumption to ease pressure on the national power grid.
The incident marks the third reported attack in as many days on a power and water facility in Kuwait. An oil facility in the country was also reportedly targeted a day earlier.
Air raid sirens sound in Kuwait and Bahrain
The latest attacks triggered air raid sirens across parts of Kuwait and Bahrain.
Residents in Kuwait City reported hearing warning sirens, while explosions were also heard in northern Bahrain after alerts sounded across the capital, Manama.
Bahraini authorities accused Iran of targeting civilian sites, adding to concerns about the widening regional impact of the conflict.
Both Kuwait and Bahrain host major US military installations, making them strategically significant amid rising tensions.
Iran says US military sites were targeted
Iranian state media said the attacks were aimed at US military assets in Kuwait rather than civilian infrastructure.
According to Iranian military statements, drones targeted facilities including Camp Udairi and the Ali Al Salem Air Base, where US forces operate.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) previously confirmed that two American service members were killed while defending against Iranian missile and drone attacks, while another remains missing.
