Ryan Reynolds has once again used his Deadpool persona to stir up speculation about Marvel’s next major superhero film, this time involving his longtime friend and X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman.
In a hilarious video released during D23, Reynolds appears to “force” Jackman to record a message asking Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for a role in Avengers: Doomsday.
The joke centers on Jackman’s Wolverine, with Reynolds teasing that Marvel could make a future Spider-Man movie featuring almost everyone except the iconic mutant.
Deadpool Threatens to Leave Wolverine Out
In the video, Jackman initially appears reluctant to participate in Reynolds’ plan.
“I don’t want to do this,” Jackman says, explaining that filming for the upcoming project has already taken place and suggesting that the request makes little sense.
Reynolds, however, continues pushing the idea.
He jokes that perhaps the next movie could be titled Deadpool and Spider-Man and feature “literally everyone except Wolverine.”
Jackman immediately objects to the suggestion.
“Who are you? Like, that’s both hurtful and spiteful,” he responds, turning the playful exchange into a classic Deadpool-style argument.
The conversation then takes an even more entertaining turn as Reynolds gets Jackman to record a message directed toward Marvel Studios.
Hugh Jackman Asks Marvel for a Role
Following Reynolds’ instructions, Jackman addresses Kevin Feige and the D23 audience and asks whether Marvel needs some additional help rounding out the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
Although clearly playing along with the joke, Jackman points out that the film already has a huge lineup of characters.
“Dude, they’ve got like 28 people. Why the hell do they need us?” he asks.
Reynolds responds in typical Deadpool fashion.
“Because we’re the golden ones. We’re special,” he says.
Eventually, Jackman delivers the requested message, saying that he would “love to join” Avengers: Doomsday. He even jokes that he might be able to persuade Reynolds to appear alongside him.

Jackman Calls It a ‘Hostage Video’
Jackman continued the joke after filming by adding a caption that made it clear he was fully aware of how ridiculous the situation looked.
“If this looks like I’m recording this video against my will. It’s because I AM,” he wrote.
Reynolds also joined in on the gag, describing his own version of the clip as a “hostage video.”
The exchange reflects the playful relationship between the two actors, who famously shared the screen in Deadpool & Wolverine. Their characters’ contrasting personalities have also become a major part of the appeal surrounding their appearances together.

Reynolds Keeps Teasing Marvel Fans
This is not the first time Reynolds has used Deadpool to create excitement around Avengers: Doomsday.
He previously appeared in a humorous fashion during the film’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, taking on the character of Jeanpool and adding another layer of mystery to the upcoming Marvel project.
Now, his D23 appearance has once again raised questions about whether Deadpool and Wolverine could have a role in Marvel’s next enormous crossover.
For the moment, however, the video remains firmly in the realm of comedy rather than an official confirmation of Jackman’s involvement.
Still, with Reynolds continuing to tease fans and Jackman publicly joking about wanting to join the cast, the possibility of seeing the two characters together again is likely to remain a major talking point among Marvel fans.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 18, 2026.
