A new Donald Trump $1 coin goes on sale Wednesday as the US Mint releases its 2026 Semiquincentennial dollar, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The Trump $1 coin 2026 will be available through the US Mint from noon Eastern Time. Collectors can purchase rolls containing 25 coins for $61, while bags of 100 coins are priced at $154.50. Orders are initially limited to two rolls and two bags per household.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of US President Donald Trump alongside the inscriptions “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST”, as well as the dual date “1776 ~ 2026.”
The reverse features the Presidential Seal, with the number “250” incorporated into the design to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.
US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed the front of the coin using an official White House photograph of Trump taken by Daniel Torok.
Special July 4th Trump coins
Adding to the interest among collectors, the US Mint struck 250,000 Trump $1 coins on July 4 featuring a special “JULY 4th” privy mark.
Rather than being sold separately, the special coins were mixed into rolls and bags, giving collectors an opportunity to find one among the newly released dollars.

One such special coin was discovered before the official release after a collector received an advanced-delivery roll. The coin was subsequently certified as an MS64 example.

Is the Trump $1 coin made of gold?
Despite its golden appearance, the new Trump dollar is not made of gold.
The coin uses a copper-based manganese-brass composition similar to that used for modern US dollar coins. It has a circulating finish and is legal tender.
However, the rolls and bags being sold directly by the Mint are being marketed as numismatic products rather than being released specifically for general circulation.
Trump’s appearance on the new 2026 $1 coin has generated significant attention online. While supporters have welcomed the design, collectors are particularly interested in finding the potentially rarer coins bearing the July 4th privy mark.
