ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) prices by 13.89% to 15.27% for October 2026 across the transmission and distribution networks of Pakistan’s two major gas utilities.
The revised rates apply to sales by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), reversing a 20% reduction announced for September.
The increase has been attributed mainly to higher crude oil prices. The rates were determined on the basis of two LNG cargoes imported by Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and took effect from October 1 under federal government policy guidelines.
LNG Import Prices Rise
The average delivered ex-ship price of the two LNG cargoes in October stood at $10.75 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), up from $10.06 in September.
The average price was $12.12 per MMBtu in August and $18.96 in July.
The higher import price is expected to affect fuel costs for power generation. RLNG-based electricity generation cost around Rs40 per unit in September, when the average LNG import price stood at $10.06 per MMBtu.
SNGPL Rates Increase
According to OGRA’s notification, the RLNG sale price for SNGPL’s transmission network increased by 13.89% to $15.9357 per MMBtu in October, compared with $13.99 in September.
For the distribution network, the price rose by 14.01% to $17.3259 per MMBtu from $15.196 in the previous month.
Based in Lahore, SNGPL supplies natural gas to consumers in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Its distribution-stage system losses have reached nearly 9%, compared with 7.47% in October last year.

SSGCL Rates Increase
For SSGCL, the RLNG sale price at the transmission stage rose by 15.25% to $14.5339 per MMBtu, up from $12.611 in September.
The distribution-stage price increased by 15.27% to $16.3959 per MMBtu from $14.22.
SSGCL, headquartered in Karachi, supplies gas to consumers in Sindh and Balochistan. Its distribution-stage system losses stand at 12.55%, compared with around 10.6% last year.
New Rates Take Effect
OGRA said the revised RLNG prices would remain applicable from October 1, 2026.
The increase comes after September’s reduction and reflects the higher average price of imported LNG cargoes. The revised rates affect the prices at which RLNG is sold through the transmission and distribution networks of both gas companies.
