Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has expressed serious concern over the health of party founder Imran Khan, urging the Supreme Court to urgently hear an application seeking implementation of its earlier order for his transfer to a hospital.
Speaking on Friday, Gohar said the information being received about the former prime minister’s health was not encouraging and had raised concerns across the country. He stressed that there should be no compromise on Imran’s medical treatment and called for an early hearing of the pending matter.
The development comes as PTI Senator Mashal Yousafzai has also approached the Supreme Court, seeking an urgent hearing of the case concerning Imran’s transfer from Adiala Jail to a medical facility.
Gohar Seeks Immediate Action
Gohar urged the Supreme Court to take up the application concerning implementation of its August 18 order, which directed that Imran Khan be shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
He said the court had also called for the formation of a medical board to oversee the PTI founder’s treatment and healthcare arrangements.
The PTI chairman emphasised that the former prime minister’s health should remain the priority and that the authorities should take the necessary decisions regarding his hospital transfer and medical care.
Gohar also called for an end to the prevailing political tension, warning that the situation should not be allowed to deteriorate further.
“The practice of picking up members of the assemblies, party workers and supporters should stop,” he said, urging the authorities to take steps to reduce political confrontation.
Mashal Files Early Hearing Application
PTI Senator Mashal Yousafzai has filed an application in the Supreme Court requesting an early hearing of the case seeking Imran Khan’s transfer from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.
Yousafzai is among the petitioners who had previously approached the court over concerns about the former prime minister’s health and requested that he be moved to the private medical facility for treatment.
In her latest application, the senator argued that the matter had become urgent because Imran remained in solitary confinement, with severely restricted access to his family members and legal representatives.
She stated that his health was deteriorating and that the failure to provide medical care and facilities previously directed by the Supreme Court had raised serious concerns about his physical and mental well-being.
The application warned that any further delay could have serious consequences for his health.

Supreme Court Hearing Remains Pending
According to the application, the Supreme Court resumed proceedings in the matter on September 16 and raised questions regarding an order issued by the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), which had summoned the case record.
Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan requested three weeks to examine the questions raised by the Supreme Court and assist the judges.
The court accepted the request and adjourned the proceedings for a date after the three-week period.
However, the application stated that the period had expired without the case being scheduled for another hearing.
It also highlighted the alleged non-implementation of the Supreme Court’s August 18 order directing the federal government to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital.
Concerns Over Delay and Fundamental Rights
Yousafzai argued that the delay in hearing the case was causing serious prejudice, particularly because it involved the health and well-being of a citizen being held in custody.
She maintained that the matter was not limited to compliance with the court’s earlier directions but also involved the protection of fundamental rights.
The senator further warned that delaying the proceedings could undermine the purpose of the interim directions and cause irreparable harm to the former prime minister.
Her application also called for an early resolution of the constitutional and legal questions raised by the Supreme Court in its September 16 order.
With PTI leadership demanding urgent medical attention and the senator seeking an early hearing, the party is pressing the Supreme Court to address the matter without further delay.
