K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi announced the development on Saturday, saying the new flight would improve connectivity for residents of the province, particularly businesspeople and others who frequently travel to Lahore.

According to the governor, the journey between the two cities will take approximately 50 minutes to one hour by air, significantly reducing travel time compared with road transport.

More Direct Flight Routes Planned

Kundi said a direct flight from Peshawar to Quetta had already been launched, while efforts were underway to establish additional air links with other parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The proposed routes include Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral and Parachinar, which could improve access to different regions of the province.

He said the initiatives were aimed at strengthening connectivity, facilitating passengers and supporting efforts to develop Peshawar into a modern city.

However, the governor did not provide further details about flight frequency or the airline operating the new Peshawar-Lahore service.

Healthcare Sector Improvements

In a separate development, Kundi addressed a ceremony in Peshawar, where he discussed measures to improve healthcare facilities across the province.

He said the provincial government was taking steps to strengthen the health sector, provide better facilities to doctors and hospitals, and establish a strong healthcare system.

Welcoming domestic and foreign delegations attending the event, the governor acknowledged that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was facing several challenges, including terrorism and the consequences of terrorist incidents.

He expressed confidence that ongoing measures to improve the health department would produce visible results and that the public would soon notice improvements.

Security Situation in Peshawar

Referring to a recent security incident, Kundi said a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) officer had been shot dead in Peshawar the previous day.

He said police were investigating the killing and warned that everyone involved would be brought to justice.

The governor also discussed security arrangements for polio workers, saying efforts were underway to protect vaccination teams and eradicate the disease.

Countering Terrorism Top Priority, Says K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi

He said intelligence-based operations were being conducted against terrorists and vowed that efforts to eliminate terrorism would continue.

However, Kundi clarified that a full-scale operation was not being conducted against terrorists.

Anti-Encroachment Drive to Continue

Commenting on the provincial government’s performance, Kundi criticised the previous 13 years of PTI rule, saying the effects of what he described as mismanagement could not be reversed within just 13 days.

He also confirmed that the anti-encroachment campaign would continue across the city.

According to the governor, authorities would first focus on widening roads before extending the operation to markets and other commercial areas.

He said separate spaces would be allocated for street vendors to ensure that their livelihoods were not affected unnecessarily.

Kundi added that anyone who had suffered unfair treatment during the anti-encroachment operation would be compensated.

The governor said the government’s initiatives, including improved air connectivity, healthcare reforms and urban development measures, were intended to address public needs and improve facilities across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
