Islamabad Protest Case : Bail Granted to 9 PTI Workers

District and Sessions Court Decision

The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad approved the bail applications of nine Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers arrested in connection with the August 5 protest case. The decision was announced by Judicial Magistrate Imran Amir Abbasi.

Lawyers’ Representation in Court

During the hearing, PTI workers were represented by Mirza Asim Baig, Ansar Kayani, Shamsa Kayani, and other lawyers. Advocate Mirza Asim argued before the court that the case was baseless and that the complainant of the FIR was not even an aggrieved party, PTI Plans Protest Outside Supreme Court Amid Legal, Political Pressures He further reminded the court that in the same case, female PTI workers had already been granted bail earlier.

Objections to the Case

Advocate Ansar Kayani pointed out that, according to the police record, no recovery was made from any of the accused. Advocate Mirza Asim Baig added that after this case was registered, another identical FIR was filed in which the same sections were simply copy-pasted.

Bail Granted Against Surety Bonds

After hearing the arguments, the court approved bail for all nine PTI workers. The court ruled that each worker be released against surety bonds worth Rs. 10,000.

Nature of the Case

The workers were booked at Lohi Bheer Police Station under various sections, including those related to public order. However, based on the police record and defense arguments, the court found sufficient grounds to release the accused on bail.
