In the AFC Under-23 Asia Cup qualifier held in Cambodia, Iraq overwhelmed Pakistan with a stunning 8-1 victory.
Iraq dominated the match, scoring eight goals against Pakistan, who managed to score only once.
During the first half, Pakistan showed some promising play, but Iraq held a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Pakistan continued to fight hard. In the 61st minute, Mikail Abdullah converted a penalty to reduce the deficit to 2-1. However, in the final 30 minutes, Iraq completely took control and scored seven more goals, leaving Pakistan trailing 8-1.
Mikail Abdullah scored Pakistan’s sole goal in the match.
Pakistan will play their second match of the event against Cambodia on September 6.
