Pakistan Hosts First International Quran Recitation Competition
Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan recently hosted its first International Quran Recitation Competition, drawing qaris from 37 countries. The event took place at the Islamabad Convention Center, marking an important step in promoting Quranic scholarship.
The ceremony began with a recitation by Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, which created a solemn atmosphere. Officials, scholars, and the public attended the event to witness this celebration of spiritual talent.
Government Welcomes Global Participants
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Yousaf, welcomed the international participants warmly. He said, We are proud to host qaris from across the world in Pakistan. Moreover, he emphasized that such initiatives strengthen bonds among Muslim communities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the competition’s significance in promoting Islamic unity. He stated, Pakistan was founded on the Kalima, and young people should strengthen their relationship with the Quran.
In addition, Dar underscored the Quran’s teachings on peace, justice, mercy, and unity. He noted that these principles are crucial for guiding both individual conduct and national governance.
Winners and Prize Distribution
The competition awarded monetary prizes to the top three qaris. Consequently, the first-place winner received PKR 5 million, the second-place winner got PKR 3 million, and the third-place finisher earned PKR 2 million.
