Additional Support for Families of Martyrs

The decision reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to stand with the families of martyrs and injured officers.

During a meeting with the victims’ families, Afridi expressed empathy for their loss. The government will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of our martyrs, he said. Moreover, he assured them of full support to help ease their hardships.
Details of the Aid Package
Initially, the provincial cabinet approved PKR 5 million (approximately USD 28,000) for each family of the slain personnel. However, Afridi announced an additional PKR 5 million, bringing the total aid to PKR 10 million (around USD 56,000) per family.
Similarly, financial support for injured officers has risen from PKR 1 million to PKR 2.5 million (roughly USD 14,000). This increase aims to cover medical expenses and help officers manage daily needs more effectively.
Afridi stated, The brave men and women of our armed forces and security agencies risk their lives to protect the nation. Therefore, their sacrifices will never go in vain.
Honour and Recognition for Sacrifices
Furthermore, Afridi highlighted that martyrdom holds a revered place in Islam. It represents the highest form of service to the country and faith. Their courage inspires us to uphold justice and truth, he added.
He also described both martyrs and injured personnel as sources of pride for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan. In addition, he stressed that their sacrifices play a vital role in protecting the country’s security and stability.
The Chief Minister promised that the government will ensure families of martyrs remain secure financially and socially. Consequently, we want to make sure they face no hardships due to their loved ones’ sacrifices, he said.
Government Commitment to Security and Welfare
Afridi emphasized that citizens’ contributions and security personnel’s service are crucial for national progress and safety. In line with this, he vowed that the government will continue efforts to improve the welfare of martyrs’ families by providing financial, medical, and social support.
Officials note that Pakistan often increases compensation for armed forces’ families after cross-border tensions. These gestures, therefore, help maintain troop morale and reassure the public about the government’s support for security forces.
Afridi’s announcement not only provides practical assistance but also offers moral encouragement to families affected by the May 2025 attack. By raising financial aid, the government sends a strong message that Pakistan values and honours the sacrifices of its security personnel.
Looking Ahead
As tensions persist along the India-Pakistan border, this initiative also strengthens public confidence in the security forces. While financial aid cannot replace lives lost, it provides tangible recognition and support for bereaved families.
Finally, Afridi concluded by reaffirming the province’s dedication to families of the fallen and injured. Our government will continue to take every step to ensure that their sacrifices are remembered and honored, he said, highlighting the nation’s unity with its protectors.
