Lahore: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari visited District Jhang to review the arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. During her visit, she chaired a high-level meeting with the district administration, law enforcement agencies, and members of the Peace Committee.
Deputy Commissioner Jhang Ali Akbar Bhindar and District Police Officer Captain (R) Bilal Iftikhar Kayani gave a detailed briefing on law and order, procession routes, security measures, monitoring of religious gatherings (majalis), and civic facilities. It was informed that CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, and bomb disposal squads have been fully deployed to ensure strict surveillance of all processions and gatherings.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Faisalabad Maryam Khan, RPO Faisalabad Zeeshan Asghar, Member Punjab Assembly Colonel (R) Ghazanfar Abbas Qureshi, former assembly members Muhammad Aslam Bharwana, Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Faisal Hayat Jabwana, Khalid Ghani, Sahibzada Maulana Muhammad Asif Muavia, Ameer Abbas Siyal, and other members of the District Peace Committee, scholars, and event organizers.
Minister Azma Bukhari expressed satisfaction with the preparedness of all relevant departments and stated that maintaining peace and order during Muharram is a top priority of the government. She emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination with procession and majalis organizers and promoting interfaith harmony. She assured that the Punjab government will utilize all resources to ensure the safety of citizens.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all provincial ministers to visit various districts to personally review and ensure foolproof security, cleanliness, lighting, and emergency health services during Muharram-ul-Haram across the province.
