Nicki Minaj has reaffirmed her support for US President Donald Trump, saying she has no intention of apologising for her decision to back him or work with his administration.

The 43-year-old rapper made the comments during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle on Friday, September 18, where she discussed her relationship with the Trump administration and her reasons for continuing to support the president.

“I am honoured to be able to have an opportunity to work with this administration and to work with President Trump,” Minaj said.

She added that Trump had inspired many people, including herself, and described him as “fun.”

During the interview, the Grammy-winning artist described Trump as “smart” and “grounded,” saying she felt she could relate to him.

“It’s easy to connect with him. It’s easy to feel like he heard you, he understands you,” Minaj said.

She also made clear that she did not feel the need to defend or apologise for her support.

“I just love him. And I’m not going to ever make excuses for that,” she said.

Minaj’s comments came in response to questions about her decision to work with the sitting president and the criticism she has received from people who disagree with her political stance.

‘Absolutely nothing’ to critics

Fox News host Laura Ingraham asked Minaj what she would say to critics of her decision to work with Trump.

The rapper responded, “Absolutely nothing.”

“I don’t know why I should,” she added.

Minaj has increasingly spoken publicly about political issues in recent years, and her latest remarks underline her continued support for Trump and his administration.

Her comments are likely to attract further attention given her status as a major international music star and her large following in the United States and abroad.
