Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is being recognised internationally as a “flag-bearer of peace,” reaffirming the country’s commitment to promoting regional stability while maintaining its resolve to eliminate terrorism.

Addressing the commissioning parade of the 125th Midshipmen and the 33rd Short Service Commission Course at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, the prime minister praised the professionalism of the armed forces and highlighted Pakistan’s recent diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.

Pakistan’s Role in Regional Peace Efforts

During his address, the prime minister described the recent understanding reached between the United States and Iran as a source of pride for Pakistan.

Referring to the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,” signed in Burgenstock, Switzerland, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan had played an important role in facilitating dialogue between the two countries.

He also expressed appreciation to friendly nations that supported the diplomatic process and contributed to advancing negotiations aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

Praise for Field Marshal Asim Munir

The prime minister paid tribute to Syed Asim Munir, commending his efforts in promoting peace and supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.

According to Shehbaz Sharif, the country’s military leadership has worked tirelessly alongside the civilian government to strengthen Pakistan’s position as a responsible regional stakeholder committed to dialogue and stability.

Commitment to Counterterrorism

Highlighting national security challenges, the prime minister said Pakistan continues to face terrorism supported from outside its borders.

He reaffirmed that the country’s armed forces remain fully committed to eliminating terrorism and safeguarding Pakistan’s security.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government would continue supporting military and law enforcement institutions to ensure lasting peace and stability throughout the country.

Pakistan Navy’s Contribution Acknowledged

The prime minister also praised the Pakistan Navy for its role during what he described as “Marka-e-Haq.”

He said the Navy had demonstrated professionalism and dedication in fulfilling its responsibilities and assured that the government is taking further measures to strengthen the country’s naval capabilities.

Congratulations to Graduating Cadets

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the graduating cadets and wished them success in their future military careers.

He noted with satisfaction that cadets from several friendly countries had completed training alongside Pakistani officers, describing the participation of international trainees as a reflection of Pakistan’s strong defence cooperation with partner nations.

The prime minister encouraged the young officers to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and dedication while serving their respective countries.

Outstanding Cadets Receive Awards

During the ceremony, the prime minister presented awards to cadets who achieved outstanding academic and professional performance during their training.

Among the recipients:

  • Midshipman Umar Mukhtar received the Sword of Honour for overall best performance.
  • Midshipman Hadi Abbas Khan was awarded the Academy Dirk.
  • Officer Cadet Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad Munawwar received the Chief of Defence Forces Gold Medal.
  • Officer Cadet Alveera Hamza of the Short Service Commission Course was presented with the Commandant’s Gold Medal.

Shehbaz Sharif also inspected the parade and received a Guard of Honour from the graduating cadets.

High-Level Attendance at the Ceremony

The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, diplomats, and the families of the graduating cadets.

Among those present were Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi.

The event marked the formal commissioning of a new batch of naval officers, who will now join the Pakistan Navy and contribute to the country’s maritime security and defence responsibilities.
