Shakira has made headlines after marking a significant legal win in Spain with a bold and symbolic social media post featuring Rihanna’s hit track “Bitch Better Have My Money.” The Colombian superstar’s post came shortly after she secured a major ruling in a long-running tax dispute, drawing widespread attention online.

Legal Win in Spain Tax Case

The case involved allegations related to Shakira’s 2011 tax residency status in Spain. Spanish authorities had previously argued that she did not properly declare taxes while living in the country during her relationship with former Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué.

However, the National High Court ruled in her favour, concluding that prosecutors failed to prove she met the 183-day threshold required to classify her as a tax resident in Spain for that year. The court noted she spent approximately 163 days in the country, below the legal requirement.

As a result, the court overturned earlier penalties and ordered the Spanish Treasury to refund fines and related costs, amounting to over €60 million (around $70 million) including interest and legal expenses.

Social Media Reaction and Symbolic Post

Following the announcement of the ruling, Shakira shared a series of photos on Instagram without a caption. However, what stood out was her choice of background music—Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money.”

The selection quickly went viral, with fans interpreting it as a confident and celebratory response to the court’s decision. Social media users flooded the comments section with reactions, calling the move “iconic” and “fearless,” while others praised her for embracing a bold narrative after years of legal uncertainty.

End of an Eight-Year Legal Battle

Shakira’s legal team described the ruling as the conclusion of an “eight-year ordeal.” The singer herself has previously expressed frustration over what she described as prolonged administrative and legal pressure.

The court decision has also reignited broader discussions in Spain about how tax residency rules are interpreted, particularly for global celebrities who divide their time across multiple countries.

What’s Next for Shakira

Beyond the courtroom, Shakira is preparing for one of the biggest performances of her career. She is set to co-headline the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show, which will reportedly feature a Super Bowl-style format for the first time in tournament history.

The event, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium, is expected to include several global artists, making it one of the most high-profile entertainment spectacles in football history.

For now, Shakira appears to be stepping into a new chapter—one marked by both legal vindication and major global stage opportunities.
