KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced revised school timings across the province, reducing daily operating hours by one hour with immediate effect.
The decision was announced through a notification issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, which said the revised schedule would remain applicable until further orders.
All schools will continue to operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday, while Saturday will remain a weekly holiday.
New Timings to Take Immediate Effect
According to the notification, the reduction in school hours applies across Sindh and educational institutions have been directed to implement the revised schedule without delay.
The department has instructed heads of educational institutions and field officers to ensure that the new timings are followed properly.
The latest decision comes after the provincial government recently made changes to the weekly academic schedule by restoring Saturday as a holiday in educational institutions.
Saturday Holiday Restored Last Month
Last month, the Sindh government restored Saturday as a weekly holiday for educational institutions across the province.
Following the decision, schools shifted to a five-day academic week, with teaching activities scheduled from Monday through Friday.
At the time, the education department had said that the reduction in the number of working days would be managed by extending daily teaching hours by one hour.
New grading policy implemented in Sindh, AJK, federal and other boards, IBCC told
The additional teaching time was intended to ensure that academic activities continued without affecting the completion of the prescribed curriculum.
The latest decision to reduce school operating hours by one hour marks another adjustment to the schedule announced previously.
Schools Directed to Ensure Compliance
The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has directed school administrations and relevant field officials to ensure compliance with the revised timings.
The department has not specified an end date for the new schedule, stating that it will remain in effect until further orders.
School authorities are therefore expected to follow the latest notification while continuing regular academic activities during the five working days.
The changes will affect students, teachers and school administrations across Sindh as educational institutions adjust their daily routines to the revised schedule.
The provincial government has not indicated whether the latest reduction in school hours will be temporary or whether the revised timings will remain in place for an extended period.
