Sindh Home Secretary Under NAB Investigation Over Illegal Prisoner Release

Iqbal Memon Summoned for Allegedly Misusing Authority to Release Under-Trial Prisoner

Sindh’s Home Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary, Iqbal Memon, has come under the radar of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The bureau has summoned him on June 24, where he will be questioned regarding the alleged misuse of authority.

According to sources, Iqbal Memon is accused of illegally approving the release of under-trial prisoner (UTP) Imran Ahmed on parole, without obtaining prior approval from the Chief Minister of Sindh.

Reports suggest that Memon repeatedly authorized the temporary release of Imran Ahmed Sheikh, despite the prisoner being under legal trial. These actions are being seen as a serious violation of protocol and legal norms.

NAB has already received court approval to form a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the prisoner’s repeated releases. The accountability court has directed the Director General of NAB Hyderabad to submit a detailed report within a month.

A formal summons has been issued, requiring the Home Secretary to appear before the committee on Tuesday at 12 PM.
