Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, urging it to quickly move toward a peace agreement or face severe consequences, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
Speaking on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, Trump said:
“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”
The statement comes amid an ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran that began after US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February 2026, and has since destabilised parts of the Middle East.
Peace negotiations remain deadlocked
Diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have made little progress. According to Iranian media reports, the latest US response to Tehran’s proposals included demands such as limiting Iran to a single nuclear facility and transferring enriched uranium stocks to US custody.
Iranian outlets claimed Washington has offered no meaningful concessions, including refusal to unfreeze major Iranian assets or provide compensation for war-related damages.
The deadlock has further complicated already fragile peace talks, which have been intermittently mediated by regional actors, including Pakistan.

Regional tensions escalate around Strait of Hormuz
The conflict has also had major global economic consequences, particularly due to instability in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route through which around 20% of global oil passes.
Disruptions in the region have contributed to volatility in global energy markets and heightened fears of broader regional escalation.
Wider Middle East instability continues
The war has also intensified violence in neighbouring regions. Israel and Lebanon have seen continued exchanges of fire despite a recently extended ceasefire agreement. Reports indicate ongoing rocket fire and retaliatory strikes, resulting in civilian casualties on both sides.
Meanwhile, drone-related incidents have also been reported in Gulf states, further highlighting the widening scope of the conflict.
Pakistan’s mediation efforts continue
Pakistan has remained involved in diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran. Pakistani officials have reportedly engaged in shuttle diplomacy, encouraging dialogue to prevent further escalation.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently held meetings in Tehran with senior Iranian officials as part of these ongoing efforts.
Global powers weigh in
International discussions on the conflict have also included broader geopolitical consultations. Trump reportedly discussed the situation with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a recent summit, though no clear breakthrough was achieved.
While diplomatic channels remain open, both sides continue to hold firm positions, leaving the prospects for an immediate peace agreement uncertain.
