LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan have been detained for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, 1960, officials said on Monday.
The detentions came a day after their sister Aleema Khan was taken into custody and shifted to Kot Lakhpat jail.
According to the Lahore Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the detention orders for Noreen and Uzma were issued following a recommendation from police under Section 3 of the MPO.
The two women were subsequently transferred to Kot Lakhpat jail at around 2am, according to lawyer Rana Mudassir.
Aleema’s sons released
Earlier, sources said Aleema’s two sons, Shahrez Khan and Sher Shah, had also been taken into custody in Lahore.
Lawyer Rana Mudassir later confirmed that the two men were released after being briefly detained.
Aleema was reportedly detained on Sunday and taken to Kot Lakhpat jail while she was on her way to a gym in Lahore.
Following her detention, Noreen told Geo News that Aleema had been taken into custody while leaving her home.
“I do not know why they are so worried that they are arresting women as well,” Noreen said.

Detentions ahead of PTI protest
The arrests and detentions come ahead of PTI’s planned nationwide protest and long march on Islamabad on September 27.
The party has said the planned demonstration is aimed at demanding Imran Khan’s release and what it describes as the supremacy of the Constitution. Imran Khan remains incarcerated at Adiala jail.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan previously condemned Aleema’s detention, describing it as “the first step towards worsening the situation”.
He said the party had consistently stated that its planned march would remain peaceful and political.
“We have always made it clear that our march will be peaceful and political,” Gohar said, adding that the party intended to pursue its constitutional and political demands through peaceful means.
“We do not want any kind of confrontation or violence,” he added.
