Details of the Incident
- The device, a jar filled with nuts, bolts, screws, and wrapped in black tape with a fuse, was ignited and thrown by a counterprotester but extinguished itself before detonating, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
- Two people, identified as Emir Balat (18) and Ibrahim Kayumi, were arrested at the scene. Authorities are working with the FBI and the US Department of Justice on the investigation.
- Another device was also thrown during the protest and is still under examination.

- Far-right activist Jake Lang led a protest of about 20 people against what he called an Islamic “takeover” of New York City and opposed public Muslim prayers.

- Tisch noted there is no immediate evidence linking the incident to the US attack on Iran, but the investigation remains ongoing.
