London: Buckingham Palace has confirmed a major event to be held on May 6, coinciding with Prince Archie’s seventh birthday, offering royal fans a hopeful glimpse of celebration amid past tensions within the family.
Garden Party Announcement
King Charles III’s office announced that a Garden Party will take place in the Palace gardens on May 6. While the surprise announcement has sparked excitement, it has also raised questions about the potential return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the UK, as security arrangements remain a key concern for the couple.
Prince Harry, who stepped down from his senior royal roles in 2020 and moved to the United States, has previously expressed his desire for reconciliation. In a BBC interview last year, he said, “I would love reconciliation with my family; there’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
Signs of Reconciliation
Hints of a possible reunion emerged last September when Harry visited Clarence House and spent approximately an hour in a private tea with King Charles. The details of their conversation were not disclosed, but the meeting was seen as a step toward mending family ties.

Summer Celebrations at the Palace
The May 6 Garden Party is the first of three such gatherings in the Palace gardens this summer, with additional events scheduled for May 8 and May 12. In honor of ex-service personnel, the Not Forgotten Association Annual Garden Party will be held on May 19. A fourth celebration is planned at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on June 30.
Guests and Family
The guest list for the Garden Party has not been released, and it remains unknown who will attend. Since the Sussexes’ departure, King Charles, 77, has had limited contact with Archie and his younger sister, Lilibet. Sources suggest the monarch is eager to spend time with his grandchildren at the Palace.
Prince Harry has expressed concern about his father’s age, saying, “Life is precious, I don’t know how much longer my father has.” While he wishes to return to the UK, tensions surrounding security arrangements continue to delay a full family reunion.
