Iran has said that the United States continues to exchange views on a proposed negotiation framework through Pakistan, despite publicly rejecting Tehran’s earlier 14-point peace proposal.

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed during a weekly press briefing that Washington recently transmitted “a set of revised points and considerations” through Pakistani intermediaries.

Pakistan remains key mediation channel

Baqaei said Iran had already reviewed the latest American response and sent its reply back through the same Pakistani diplomatic channel.

“The process is continuing through Pakistan,” he stated, indicating that indirect communication between Tehran and Washington remains active despite ongoing public disagreements.

Pakistan has increasingly emerged as a central mediator in recent months, facilitating dialogue between the two sides amid wider regional tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Iran says uranium enrichment is non-negotiable

The Iranian spokesperson also dismissed media speculation regarding possible concessions on Iran’s nuclear programme.

He stressed that Iran’s right to uranium enrichment is “non-negotiable” and protected under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Trump Issues Dire Warning to Iran Over Peace Deal

The issue of Iran’s nuclear facilities and enriched uranium stockpiles has remained one of the biggest obstacles in negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

Strait of Hormuz discussions continue

Baqaei further said Iran remains committed to maintaining secure maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz despite ongoing regional tensions.

He confirmed that consultations with Oman are continuing, including expert-level discussions in Muscat focused on creating mechanisms for safe navigation through the strategically important waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, handling a significant share of global oil shipments.

Diplomatic efforts continue despite tensions

Although both sides continue to publicly criticise each other’s positions, the latest remarks suggest that diplomatic channels remain open behind the scenes.

The continuation of indirect talks through Pakistan indicates that efforts toward a broader de-escalation and possible peace framework are still underway, even as disagreements persist over nuclear policy, sanctions, and regional security arrangements.
