Mamdani shared the brief clip on social media after Vance posted a message highlighting what he described as the Trump administration’s accomplishments for New York City and the state.
In his November 2 post on X, Vance listed safer communities, tax cuts for working families and what he called historic investments in New York.
He concluded his message by declaring, “We got your back, New York!”
Vance’s Claims Face Scrutiny
Vance’s post attracted criticism after an X Community Note challenged several of the figures and claims included in his message.
The note argued that some of the investments cited were nationwide commitments rather than projects or funding specifically directed towards New York.
It also questioned the attribution of a reported 48% decline in murders, linking the figure to New York State’s Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) programme.
Mamdani’s Viral Response
Mamdani responded by sharing a nine-second video featuring online prankster Olly Bee, who describes himself as the “world’s hardest worker”.
Originally posted by Bee in December 2025, the clip shows him wearing a high-visibility vest and appearing to help operate a subway train.
In the footage, he helps the train stop, opens its doors, welcomes passengers, closes the doors and then allows the train to continue its journey.

Mamdani shared the video without adding any explanation or accompanying statement.
The timing of the post led many viewers to interpret it as a sarcastic response to Vance’s claims about the administration’s work in New York.
Video Gains Attention Online
The clip quickly attracted attention across social media, with users discussing the apparent exchange between the mayor and the vice president.
One Reddit user described Mamdani’s response as a “brutal” comeback.
Olly Bee also reacted to the unexpected attention, expressing excitement in an Instagram Story and directly asking Mamdani to collaborate with him.
The brief exchange has added another viral moment to the political rivalry surrounding claims about the Trump administration’s record in New York.
