Former U.S. President Barack Obama has strongly condemned the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, particularly the shortage of food and clean water, calling it a grave injustice. He emphasized the urgent need to resume humanitarian aid and warned of the deadly consequences of prolonged deprivation.
In a recent statement, Obama declared that denying civilians in Gaza access to food and water is morally indefensible, regardless of the context. He urged the international community to take swift and effective action to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
Obama stated that a lasting resolution in Gaza is only possible if all hostages are released and Israel halts its military operations. This statement aligns with recent developments, as former President Donald Trump hinted at a potential ceasefire in Gaza next week, citing positive signs from ongoing negotiations.
Meanwhile, international aid organization Oxfam also voiced deep concern over Israel’s strict limitations on humanitarian assistance. The organization criticized the occasional entry of a few aid trucks into Gaza as insufficient and described it as a deliberate starvation strategy that has persisted for months.
Oxfam argued that such limited aid efforts are only short-term responses to global pressure and fall far short of addressing the widespread humanitarian disaster. They called for the immediate, full, and safe reopening of all Gaza crossings to allow essential supplies to reach those in dire need.
The organization stressed that only a permanent ceasefire and a political resolution can provide a meaningful and lasting solution. Anything less, they said, would be a temporary relief that obstructs the path to peace.
It is important to note that the ongoing Israeli bombings, blockade, and restrictions on aid have left millions of Gazans facing extreme hunger, displacement, and a total collapse of healthcare services. The United Nations and various global organizations have already declared the situation a severe humanitarian crisis.
