Bollywood icon Dharmendra, celebrated for his legendary film career, was equally known for his deep connection to his ancestral land and rural life. Recent reports from Indian media reveal that the veteran actor had transferred ownership of a significant portion of his land to close relatives nearly a decade ago, underscoring his commitment to family and his humble roots.

Land Transfer to Trusted Relatives

According to reports, Dharmendra transferred his ancestral property around ten years ago to his nephew, so that the land could be managed responsibly during his absence. Dharmendra’s nephew, Bota Singh Deol, explained that in 2016, the actor transferred ownership of 19 kanal and 3 marla of land in his native village of Dangoan, located approximately 25 kilometers from Ludhiana, to his father, Manjeet Singh, and uncle, Shangara Singh.

The land, valued at several crores of rupees, has always held sentimental significance for Dharmendra. Despite his glamorous career and the wealth that came with it, he found peace and contentment in the simplicity of village life and the serene atmosphere of farm fields.

Maintaining Village Connections

Throughout his life, Dharmendra remained deeply connected to his relatives and childhood friends. Although his career often kept him busy in the city and on film sets, he frequently visited his native village. His last recorded visit was in 2019, coinciding with Sunny Deol’s election campaign in Gurdaspur. Such visits reflect the actor’s enduring attachment to his origins, despite decades in the limelight.

Life Away from Bollywood

In addition to his ancestral village, Dharmendra spent many years at his farmhouse in Khandala, near Mumbai. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he shared numerous videos and messages for his fans from this rural retreat, demonstrating his approachability and warmth.

Interestingly, Dharmendra did not transfer the land to his own children but chose instead to entrust it to relatives he considered most reliable. This decision highlights not only his strong family values but also his preference for simplicity over ostentation.

Legacy of Humility and Family Values

The actor’s choice to transfer land to relatives rather than selling it or keeping it under his name reflects a philosophy rooted in trust, family loyalty, and love for one’s origins. Following his recent passing, Dharmendra’s massive fortune and enduring legacy have come into focus, highlighting both his cinematic and personal achievements. In an industry often associated with glamour and extravagance, Dharmendra’s gestures underscore a contrasting commitment to humility and the enduring importance of personal roots.

Even amid fame and fortune, Dharmendra’s life demonstrates the value he placed on familial bonds, community connections, and rural traditions. The transfer of his multi-million-rupee land serves as a lasting testament to his dedication to family, legacy, and the simplicity of village life.
