QUETTA: Security forces killed two militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Turbat city of Balochistan on Wednesday, security sources said.
According to the sources, the operation was carried out after security personnel received intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area.
The IBO was conducted as part of Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3. During the operation, security forces exchanged fire with the militants, resulting in the deaths of two terrorists, the sources said.
Security personnel are pursuing militants who managed to flee the area, while a search operation is also underway.
The sources said security forces were continuing operations against militants with an “unwavering resolve.”
Recent operations in Balochistan
The Turbat operation came a day after security forces killed six militants during Operation Shaaban-II in the Saran Tangi area of Balochistan.
Security forces also detained nine suspected individuals during the operation, according to security sources.
In another recent development, security forces foiled an attempt by militants to disrupt public movement on the N-25 highway near Kalat, killing five terrorists and safely recovering 23 hostages.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants had established a checkpoint on the highway with the alleged aim of abducting people, extorting money and seizing vehicles.

Security forces responded to the incident and killed five terrorists, while weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from a militant hideout.
The military’s media wing said six trucks, three buses and two cars were also recovered from the site.
KP and Balochistan remain violence hotspots
Pakistan has witnessed a rise in militant attacks in recent years, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan among the provinces most affected.
A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) said the two provinces remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with KP recording the highest number of fatalities.
According to the report, KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related deaths recorded nationwide during the quarter.
More than 61% of the fatalities, or 475 deaths, were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34%, or 265 deaths.
KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases representing 57% of the national total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, accounting for 35%.
The figures highlight the concentration of militant activity and violence in the two provinces.
