A local court in Islamabad has sentenced convicted murderer Umar Hayat to an additional two years in prison in a separate arms-related case linked to the killing of social media influencer Sana Yousaf. The verdict further adds to an already lengthy prison term handed down in multiple charges.
Court Issues New Sentence and Fine
Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka announced the judgment under Section 13 of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance. Along with the two-year jail term, the court imposed a fine of Rs100,000. The ruling stated that if the fine is not paid, the convict will have to serve an additional one month in prison.
According to the court record, this new sentence adds to Hayat’s already accumulated punishment, bringing his total imprisonment to around 23 years when combined with previous convictions in related and separate charges.
Earlier Conviction in Murder Case
This development comes just a day after the same court awarded Umar Hayat the death penalty in the high-profile murder case of 17-year-old TikTok creator Sana Yousaf. In that judgment, the court also imposed a fine of Rs2 million.
Sana Yousaf was killed at her residence in Islamabad on June 2, 2025. She had a large social media following, with more than 800,000 followers on TikTok and over a million across various platforms. Her content included lip-sync videos, skincare tips, and promotional posts for beauty products.

In its detailed ruling, the court also handed down sentences under several other legal provisions. Umar Hayat received additional prison terms and fines under different sections of law, including robbery, criminal trespass, and related offenses. Collectively, these sentences contribute to a significant cumulative punishment alongside financial penalties exceeding millions of rupees.
Case Background and Legal Proceedings
The prosecution had presented multiple witnesses and digital evidence during the trial, including call records, mobile phone data, and forensic material. The court also noted that identification and investigative procedures played a key role in establishing the accused’s involvement.
Meanwhile, the defence had argued that the accused was falsely implicated and claimed procedural irregularities in the investigation. However, the court, after reviewing the evidence and witness testimonies, rejected these claims.

The case has drawn public attention due to Sana Yousaf’s popularity on social media and the brutality of the crime. The latest sentencing reflects the court’s continued proceedings in related charges, with further reinforcing penalties added even after the death sentence was announced.
