Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed pride in Pakistan’s contribution to the FIFA World Cup 2026, noting that the tournament’s official match ball, named “Trionda,” has been manufactured in Pakistan.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the prime minister described the opening of the 23rd FIFA World Cup as a special occasion for football fans around the world. He said the tournament represents the power of sport to unite people across different cultures, nations and backgrounds.
Extending his best wishes to the host countries — United States, Canada and Mexico — as well as all participating teams, the prime minister expressed hope for a successful and memorable competition.
Pakistan-Made ‘Trionda’ Ball Takes Centre Stage
The prime minister emphasized that Pakistan’s internationally recognized sporting goods industry is playing an important role in the global event through the production of the official match ball.
According to PM Shehbaz, the manufacturing of the Trionda ball reflects the skill, craftsmanship and technical expertise of Pakistani workers. Pakistan has long been known for producing high-quality sports equipment, particularly footballs, with the city of Sialkot serving as one of the world’s leading centres for football manufacturing.
He stated that Pakistan is proud to be associated with a tournament that brings together millions of fans and athletes from across the globe.
Design Inspired by the Three Host Nations
The Trionda ball was designed by Adidas and later manufactured in Pakistan.
Its design incorporates the national identities of all three host countries. The ball features red, blue and green colours, along with symbolic elements including maple leaves representing Canada, an eagle symbolizing Mexico and stars reflecting the United States.

A distinctive triangular pattern has also been included to highlight the partnership and unity between the three nations hosting the tournament.
Advanced Technology for Modern Football
Beyond its visual appearance, the Trionda ball incorporates several advanced technological features aimed at improving performance and officiating.
Deep seam construction has been designed to enhance stability while the ball is in flight, while textured and embossed surface details improve grip in various weather conditions, including rain and humidity.
The ball is also equipped with a motion-sensor chip capable of transmitting real-time movement data to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system. This technology is expected to assist match officials by providing more accurate information during key decisions and helping analysts evaluate player and ball movement throughout games.
A Source of National Pride
Pakistan’s involvement in the FIFA World Cup 2026 through the production of the official match ball underscores the country’s longstanding reputation in sports manufacturing. As the world’s biggest football event gets underway, the presence of a Pakistan-made ball on the global stage has been welcomed as a moment of pride for the country’s sporting goods industry and workforce.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded his message by expressing hope that the tournament would promote friendship, unity and sporting excellence among nations worldwide.
